E6B
The E6B Flight Computer is an age old tool that has been a part of aviation lore for quite some time. At some level it’s still remarkable that this “computer” can be built from paper, plastic and some bits of metal! However, with modern hand held devices and smart phones, and with the strong encouragement of an early Avilution customer, it made sense to put this on a hand held device. Further, rather than having a clunky system for selecting equations, it seemed a much more logical and intuitive interface could be built combining all the functions into a few screens and with a very basic mantra — put in what you know, and E6B gives you everything it can compute from the supplied data.
Remember E6B is not a substitute for an FAA approved flight manual and is only as useful as the data you load into the application. Keep in mind many of the calculations are approximations!
Here’s some quick help to get you started:
1. The primary rule is, fill in what you know and it will tell you what it knows how to compute based on what you said. For example, suppose we provide the following information:

Scrolling down, you will see that E6B has computed the following information:

2. Once it has entered a mode of calculation, you may still edit the input fields, but if you want to change what to compute (for example if you wanted to provide the winds, your true airspeed and your course in order to have E6B compute your heading and groundspeed), you will need to press the reset button
